Chartered in 1947, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is the world’s largest and foremost organization of public relations professionals. PRSA provides professional development, sets standards of excellence and upholds principles of ethics for its members and, more broadly, the multi-billion dollar global public relations profession. We also advocate for greater understanding and adoption of public relations services, and act as one of the industry’s leading voices on the important business and professional issues of our time.
Who are we?
Nationally, PRSA is a community of more than 21,000 public relations and communications professionals, from recent college graduates to the leaders of the world’s largest multinational firms. Our members represent nearly every practice area and professional and academic setting within the public relations field. In addition, there are more than 10,000 students who are members of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) at colleges and universities here and abroad.
Locally, PRSA California Capital Chapter (PRSA-CCC) draws members from a wide area of northern and eastern California, including the communities of Sacramento, Placerville, Roseville, Napa, Fairfield, Stockton, Lake Tahoe, Chico, Yuba City, Redding, and other nearby areas. The chapter is lead by a 9-member Board of Directors who are willing and able to help new members thrive in their careers, become more active in their industry and network with other like minded professionals.
PRSA can help you extend your network of professional contacts. PRSA-CCC membership can put you in touch with other PRSA members who share your particular knowledge and expertise, and offer you niche conferences and learning opportunities.
PRSA’s national professional development programs and industry conferences were the first of their kind, and continue to be imitated for their cutting-edge topics, thought-leading speakers and knowledge- and skill-building practicality. We also offer the industry’s only accreditation program: the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) program.
PRSA provides access to award-winning periodicals, daily news updates and blogs help you stay on top of emerging trends and industry news. Plus, a vast, easily searchable database gives you instant access to research, articles, white papers and Silver Anvil Award-winning program case studies organized by subject, industry and business outcome.
PRSA membership requires that individual members adhere to the principles of the Society’s Member Code of Ethics, which — in a nutshell — requires that each member work to make the public relations profession worthy of public confidence. For more information, please see our Member Code of Ethics.
